Heyy everyone!!
How is everyone doing? I hope that you're all well! I know that another week of social distancing has probably continued to take its toll on us, but remember that it also means that we are one week closer to being back out there again, and that is something to look forward to! Keep straying strong, keep staying healthy, and of course, PLEASE keep staying INDOORS!! The more we stay inside now, the sooner we will be back out there, and we will have a beautiful summer full of sunshine!! :)
For this week's topic, I will be focusing on something that right now is very central to my life - embracing CHANGE, in some BIG WAYS!! In so many ways, this world is going through many changes that are sure to leave a lasting impact. Some of them are positive, while others might not be so much. Both in a global sense and in a deeply personal sense, we are all experiencing a lot of changes in our lives and for many of us it probably feels like our lives have been entirely turned upside down. This is especially true for those of us who already are experiencing a period of profound life change, even without the pandemic, like myself!
As most of you probably know by now, I am senior in college, and I graduate in just about TWO WEEKS!!!! This is really so crazy for me to think about, and it is so hard to believe that in just about a week from now I will be pretty much done with all of my homework, tests, studying, and paper-writing... very possibly FOREVER!! College absolutely flew by and it feels like it just started, yet here it is coming to a close.
Of course, this is not how I imagined my senior year ending, and in many ways it is sad that I will not get to experience a lot of the senior events that I have been looking forward to for so long, including a physical graduation ceremony (although we are still holding out hope that our petitions will work and will get the graduation postponed to a later date)! It is disheartening that I never got a chance to say goodbye to many of my friends. In a time in my life during which I already have to deal with a lot of great change due to finishing school, I now have to deal with all of these extra, sudden changes on top of that! It is very hard for all of us, but we must keep staying positive!
I know that whatever you are going through right now, the idea of staying positive is probably very difficult in a lot of ways. This is completely understandable, so please make sure that you are taking the time to honor all of your feelings and doing what you feel you need to do in order to take good care of yourself in all ways. But at the same time, please also remember that whatever it is that we are going through, we all have a lot of blessings in our lives that we must remember to be grateful for! :)
Be grateful for your health, for your family and friends, for those around you who give you lots of love and who make your heart full! Be grateful that you are alive, that there is a force inside of you that is constantly pushing towards being the next best version of itself. Be grateful that you are here, wherever "here" is right now. :)
And I do believe that this is how we can all embrace the changes in our life a bit more. By consciously being more grateful for everything that we hold near to us, the changes that we are all experiencing might not seem so earth-shattering and life-altering after all... except for when we want them to! We can overcome much of the fear and the turmoil of change by remembering that no matter what happens, no matter what is given to us or taken away from us, our internal sense of gratitude will get us through and will always be there to remind us how blessed we are.
And by focusing on this, it hurts me a little bit less that I do not get to experience graduation or any of the other awesome and fun senior events. It makes me a little bit less scared of what is to come next, and it reminds me that I really do not have to worry. This is because I know that no matter what, I will have my life to be grateful for. I can embrace change because I believe that my life is being shaken up in some necessary ways that will prove to be for the better. And I am confident that whatever happens next, I will be able to handle it. I am ready!! :)
So the next time you feel the weight of all of the change that's going on in the world setting in on you, just remember all of the love and support that is making itself known to you, and all of the new opportunities that are opening themselves up and just waiting for you to discover them. What kinds of changes are currently going on in your life right now? What are you focusing on? How are you being intentionally grateful for what you have in your life, while getting yourself excited for all that is to come after this? Whatever it is, keep confident that you are strong, you are ready, and YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! :)
Reach out to me whenever you would like, as we know, change is often much easier face with great friends and family by your side!! I'm sending lots of love and strength to each and every one of you, and I know that we have lots of great stuff to look forward to from here on out. Keep being strong, and again, please keep staying indoors!! Sending infinite love and hugs to all of you!! Keep being kind and compassionate to yourselves and to others!! WE CAN DO THIS!!!! :) <3
Your friend forever,
Adam Silverstein :) <3
