Hey everyone!! How are you all?! Hope you're all doing great!!
Today was a very special day for me. It was my "unofficial" Graduation Day! Today, May 8th was when my college had originally scheduled the Class Of 2020's Graduation Ceremony. Of course I am bummed that today did not turn out the way I had always dreamed it would... no celebrating with my friends, no hugging the ones that I have formed memories and bonds with over the past 4 years, no walking across that stage to get my diploma. I'm pretty sad about that and in some ways it still does not feel entirely real... but I know that I will make it through this and that there is still a lot to celebrate and be proud of! I have worked hard for four years, and now I finally made it.
My parents and I got some great pictures around campus with me in my cap and gown today, and I even recorded a video of myself giving a speech to my whole class (I am the class's Co-Valedictorian!)!! So it was still fun. As for an actual ceremony, that will be taking place in a couple of weeks on Wednesday, May 20th... over Zoom of course! I still can't really believe that it is happening this way, but I must remember all that I have to be thankful for. I look forward to sharing it with my family. Pictures will be coming soon, of course!!
As I've been sharing here over the past few weeks, I still have a petition going to get my class's graduation postponed to a later date instead of outright cancelled!! Please be sure to sign it and share it with as many other people as possible so that we can make this happen!! And of course, if your school has any petitions going to get you a graduation, please send them my way so that I can sign those and share them as well!! We gotta stick together and help each other out with this, and we'll get there!! :)
And lastly, I need to say a HUGE congratulations to everyone who is graduating in the Class Of 2020 this year, whether as a high school student, a college student, or any student! I know that this is not the way that you imagined your graduation to be, but please remember to be proud of yourself just the same and to celebrate all of your incredible accomplishments!! You are amazing and you deserve all the celebrations in the world for getting to where you are right now! Keep being your awesome self and be proud of all that you have accomplished! Take some time out to celebrate and to do what YOU love to do the most!! :)
I will end off this post here, but I have lots more to share about my experiences in school, and I can't wait to tell all of you all about it!! Keep staying strong and doing all of the great things that you do. Sending lots of love and hugs to all of you!! Always remember to be kind to yourselves and to others, and to spread as much love as you can. I will see you all really soon!! Please keep staying indoors and social distancing!! Sending virtual hugs!! Love you all LOTS!!!! :) <3
Your friend forever,
Adam Silverstein :) <3
